Hatha Yoga is an ancient discipline that involves various physical and mental exercise, central to which is the regulation of breath. Just as we have different temperaments and needs, different ways of practising yoga have evolved and there now exist many different styles of yoga to suit our individual requirements.
However, the aim of them all is the same, to balance the mind and body through regular practice bringing about a feeling of well being and harmony within ourselves and the world in which we live.
Power yoga synchronises classical yoga postures with powerful breathing techniques to create a flowing, dynamic and aerobic practice that is both challenging and invigorating.
Postures are arranged in a sequence that builds to create a gradual, balanced and progressive opening of the musculature

system, each posture building on the previous while at the same time preparing the body for the next, resulting in increased flexibility, mobility, strength and stamina.
Every posture is linked to the next by a series of flowing movements, each movement is synchronised to the rhythm of our breath and slowly, a fluid individual and safe practice begins to evolve.
Through the combination of postures and breath, together with certain muscular locks, heat is produced in the body, this not only allows for a safer and deeper opening but also helps rid the body of unwanted toxins through the process of sweating.
With regular practice the skeletal system is realigned, the internal organs massaged and tension released form the body, a total mind and body workout evolves appropriate to our individual needs.
In the beginning this form of yoga may appear to be all physical, but as our body becomes accustomed to the sequence, and our feeling of well being grows, we are able to focus our mind inwards reaping the rewards of this complete form of yoga.
When the body, breath and mind are joined as one we are truly practicing yoga.
